Tell us a little about your self and what you do for a living.

My name is Germaine Terry, I am a single mother of two boys and one adopted (18,17,17). I am an Army Soldier for Life that loves to volunteer, sing, travel and read

Who has inspired you most in your life?

While me and this feisty lady bump heads a lot, I would have to admit my
mother is inspiring. She has been through so much and life, and she is still standing, still relevant to many, and still comforting to most.

What would you say is the most rewarding part of being a mentor?

What I find to be most rewarding is the fact that I am giving back to the community. I have seen and been through some of the youths in DC have endured. I am a native of Camden, NJ. I have the knowledge to know there is better, the street smarts to know when to step back, and experience of being a mother to know how to influence children that are not my own.

Where would you be today without mentors in your life?
While my mother is my inspiring person. I have several mentors. Mr. English was my substitute teacher and he was an awesome guy. He involved himself in my laugh and later became a family friend. Going through the ranks I have been mentored by some awesome Senior NCOs who have made me who I am. I have faced many adversities and with their influences and their strength as well as their stories of adversities, I know I would always come out on top.
