#GIVINGTUESDAY: MENTORING YOUTH MATTERS

What is #GivingTuesday?
On Tuesday, December 1, 2015, charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.

3 November 2015 | News

92Y and United Nations Foundations created this movement in 2012 to symbolize the beginning of the season of giving.
Last year, more than 27,000 organizations in 68 countries came together to celebrate #GivingTuesday and in total raised over $45 million. Since its founding in 2012, #GivingTuesday has inspired giving around the world, resulting in greater donations, volunteer hours, and activities that bring about real change in communities.
It’s a simple idea. It’s about rallying your family, your community, your company or your organization to come together to give something more. Then telling everyone you can about how you are giving through social media using the hashtag #GivingTuesday.
Why #GivingTuesday?
There are currently more than 8.5 million youth in the U.S. that are without a caring adult in their lives and 3 million teens drop out of high school every year in the U.S. With the support of a Mentor, children are 52% less likely to skip school than those children without mentors but also 46% less likely to use illegal drugs and 26% less likely to use alcohol. Your support of Mentor Foundation USA will help us reduce the risk factors among youth while helping them realize their potential and goals.
