BakerHostetler Law Firm has been an exceptional “Partner in Prevention” through Mentor Foundation USA’s Mentoring in School Program. Since 2011, BakerHostetler has invested the time of five employees who have served as mentors to students at Cesar Chavez School for Public Policy’s Parkside Campus.

“We are very excited to announce that our partnership with BakerHostetler has grown to provide mentors to 25 high-school seniors from a selected school in Washington DC,” says Gunilla Girardo, President & CEO, Mentor Foundation USA.

Mentoring sessions will take place at BakerHosteler’s offices in Washington DC, explains Jamila Sams, Program Director, Mentor Foundation USA, “When students have an opportunity to experience learning outside the traditional classroom it inspires them to aim high and it reassures them that anything is possible!”

Sessions will take place once a month for 2 hours where the students will be engaged with mentors from BakerHostetler who will guide them through career and college preparatory activities to ensure they are ready for college or other post-secondary opportunities. Students will benefit from having a professional mentor who is there to listen and empower them to make positive decisions and they will experience a connection between the theories learned in school and the practice learned in a professional environment.

“This is a mutually beneficial partnership where BakerHosteler will also benefit from an opportunity to make an impact in the lives of young people through mentoring and sharing information about how to prepare for college and having a career,” remarks Jamila Sams.
