The event was a huge success bringing together 300 top influencers from business and government as well as philanthropists from around the world—all caring about the well-being of youth. The goal for this important event was to raise awareness on a local and global level around the importance of drug prevention and positive youth development. The Master of Ceremonies was actor and director Mr. Dolph Lundgren and the evening showcased many young talents including Electric Cellist Benjamin Gates, Empyrian Heights Acapella Group from Annandale High School and Slam Poets from T.C. Williams High school. This year’s Partner in Prevention Award was presented to Ms. Irasima Salcido, founder of Cesar Chavez School for Public Policy and the DCPNI Promise Neighborhood Initiative. The award is given to an individual whose exceptional efforts and accomplishments in the area of youth development, deserving of recognition in themselves, but have also significantly advanced the work of Mentor Foundation USA. The proceeds from the event will help Mentor USA as we are now expanding programs in Washington, D.C., Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York, both city and state, Idaho, and Georgia. Some of our campaigns now have a national reach, thanks to the collaboration with incredible corporate partners, and with the many generous individuals who support our mission.
