YOUTH SPOTLIGHT: YONAS ARAYA
Yonas Araya is a 16-year-old student at T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria, VA. He is one of the 8 students invited to the White House to offer their voices to the policy makers at the Office of National Drug Control Policy.

AN INVITATION TO THE WHITE HOUSE
Inspired by seven seniors from T.C. Williams H.S. who performed their slam poems at our May 1st anti-drug youth rally, David Mineta, from the Office of National Drug Control Policy invited these students along with Mentor to share their poetry with the entire staff of ONDCP at the White House on May, 30th.
SANTIAGO, FROM SHY TO CONFIDENT
Santiago was a shy, and somewhat insecure, senior at Spring Brook High School in Maryland. He was a little unsure of himself and his ideas but with the guidance of his teacher, Lynn Nelson, and the H&M drug free t-shirt slogan contest he took a chance and entered the slogan that motivated him.

Our students from Phelps H.S. in D.C. and T.C. Williams H.S. in Alexandria, VA, have formed fruitful relationships with the construction and engineering company Skanska via Mentor’s Authentic Career Experience program.

We have celebrated another successful year of mentoring and have had the honor of sending our first round of graduates off to college.

On May 27th from 4:30-6:30pm Mentor Foundation USA president and CEO, Gunilla Girardo, will speak on a panel of leading business women from both the U.S. and Sweden for the Leaders in Heels presentation.
700 STUDENTS SHATTER THE MYTHS
On May 1st, 2014 there was excitement beaming the school as 700 seniors entered the auditorium to “Shatter the Myths” with a youth drug prevention rally. As a kickoff for prom season Mentor Foundation USA traveled our unique “Shattering the Myths” Youth Rally to the school.
NATIONWIDE SUPPORT FOR PREVENTION
Mentor Foundation USA is getting national exposure throughout the month of May on the charity subscription website Charity Subs. Charity Subs is an organization created to show the power of our national community when pooled together.
